DIY TOOLBOX

for developing your team and organization

This is a Do It Yourself Toolkit for developing your organization, the work in your team, and with your community.

The Toolbox gives you as a team of ideally 3-15 people the possibility to explore your needs and work on them.

There are a million different challenges organizations may face. This Toolbox focuses on thirteen selected themes, which deal with some of the most frequent ones:

Internal Communication and Decisions, Roles and Responsibilities, Working with Volunteers, Strategy, Vision and Mission, Risk and Resilience, Financial Model, Knowledge and Learning, Collective Impact, Community Engagement, Crowdfunding, Working with Funders and Evaluative Learning.

In order to prioritize which theme(s) to work on, you can use the Toolbox first to get together in your team to assess your current collaboration and performance.

Then there are different ways to work with the Toolbox. You can implement a tailor-made workshop to work on a specific theme. These workshops are called “Paths”. Each Path outlines a recommended sequence of activities, discussions, and exercises to guide you through a fruitful development process, all of which can be adjusted to your team’s specific needs. Most Paths assume that you will invest a day to work on a theme. You can also create your own Path with methods from the Toolbox or try out individual methods one at a time.

To start working with the Toolbox, read the Facilitator’s guide first to get a better understanding about how it works.

TOOLBOX PRINCIPLES
Do it as a team: Everybody has knowledge, and can contribute.
Do it yourself: You can host your own workshop. Invest time not money and feel free to adapt Paths and methods to do it your way.
Keep it pragmatic: Use what you need – online or offline any time and any place you want.
